3 years ago whilst reading Peformance Bike magazine, DDR owner Jay came across an article written by one of his friends, John Macavoy. Intrigued by what he'd just read, Jay decided that he would load up his transporter with the DDR CBR400 and head down to Pendine Sands, Carmarthen, Wales and have a crack at a land speed record himself. Having never raced on sand before, Jay had no idea what to expect. For his efforts Jay returned home with a UKTA Land Speed record in th P-P-500 Production 500cc Class of 120.3mph beating the previous record of 118mph.

Jump forward to May 2018, Jay and Deano both headed down to Pendine, with Stew in tow as pit crew. Jay this time riding the DDR GSXR600 and Deano the DDR CBR400. Both riders came away with a new Land Speed record each for their Retrospective class, Jay Smashing the existing 137mph UKTA record taking it up to 150mph and Deano beating Jays existing by a whisker taking it from 120.3mph to 120.4mph

May 2019 saw Stew jump on a bike, this time on the DDR CBR400, Deano on the DDR GSXR750 and Jay on the DDR CBR1000 Fireblade. Ketsey Joined the team as Pit Crew and Beer Assistant.  With some great backing and sponsorship behind them, all riders entered the ACU Catergory of classes. Both Jay, Deano and Stew came away with 4 records each, this time in the Modified Frame, Production Engine Classes for the Standing Mile and Flying Quarter Mile in the ACU category, automatically qualifying them for the UKTA equivalent also.

September 2019 was tough for all riders with the condition of the sand being much heavier than previous visits. All riders were down on speed to where they should usually be by approximately 10mph. Unfortunately for the team, only Stew managed to establish a new record on the DDR GSXR600 in the ACU class again automatically qualifying him for the same record in the UKTA Class.

2020 is now in the sights for the team. With only one event at Pendine in 2020, they've got to go big.  With a new build in progress and some more tweaks to the DDR fleet, who knows what the team will acheive.
